Jazz Ensemble Auditions

Auditions for jazz ensembles are held during the first week of school each semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 6 p.m. in Large Rehearsal Hall.

A prepared jazz excerpt and sight reading will be requested. Improvisation experience is helpful but not required. Jazz auditions may involve an informal jam session.

Students interested in participating in a combo should communicate this with the jazz director at any point in the audition process.

Jazz ensembles are open to both music majors and non-major students. For any other questions, please contact the Jazz Director, Vince Norman at [email protected]

Students interested in jazz ensembles must sign up for an audition slot - a printed list of slots is typically posted outside of Large Rehearsal Hall (Bass Center A110) in advance of auditions.
