The list of winners of ӰAV’s annual state-wide high school art competition has been released.
ӰAV’s School of Visual Arts hosts the Oklahoma High School 2-Dimensional Art Competition, which was formerly the High School Print and Drawing Competition. The contest has been an annual event since 1985.
The contest is open to all Oklahoma students in grades 9 through 12. Media categories include prints; drawings in pencil, charcoal or pastel; collages; paintings; and photographs. Awards include one Nona Jean Hulsey Award, three Norick Awards and 10 Merit Awards.
Mike Wimmer, ӰAV’s artist-in-residence and chairman of the Visual Art Department, personally selects one artist for his Mastery Award. The $1,000 Mike Wimmer Mastery Award cash prize is split between the artist and the artist’s school.
The works in the contest will be on display in the Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery until Nov. 15. The gallery is located in the Norick Art Center at Blackwelder Avenue and N.W. 26th Street.
Gallery hours during the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
