This policy streamlines the school-by-school articulation agreements that ӰAV has in place or has in the works with local junior colleges. “We will continue to provide all students with a strong liberal arts education and ensure that certain ӰAV-specific core requirements remain as a vehicle for engagement with the unique features of our campus culture and relationship with the broader community”, said Buchanan.
Beginning in the summer of 2016, ӰAV bachelor’s degrees will be more accessible to students transferring from two-year colleges.
Students who hold Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees will have mostly met their general education requirements. Biblical Literature or World Religions and a Service Learning course must be completed while matriculated at ӰAV.
In addition, some ӰAV degree programs may have minimal requirements for certain courses outside the major requirements. “Due to the cultural shift in higher education that has been influenced by economic downturns, more students are matriculating at junior colleges before transferring to four-year colleges. It is important to respect the completed degrees that these students bring with them”, said Interim Provost Kent Buchanan.
