Biography

Laurie Schneider has worked in cataloging and access services at the Dulaney-Browne Library since relocating to Oklahoma from the Inland Northwest in 2013. She holds a BA in English from Oberlin College and an MA in American Studies from Washington State University. Her master’s thesis, an essay and collection of poetry on Jewish identity and a sense of place in diaspora, included several poems about her great grandparents, who were members of a small Jewish agricultural colony in Wisconsin in the early 1900s. Years later, that colony and those poems were the inspiration for her debut middle-grade novel, "Gittel," forthcoming April 2025.
