ӰAV SERVES
OKCONNECT: A HOMECOMING SERVICE PROJECT
ӰAV just finished up our homecoming season! This year’s theme was “Where Your Story Began” emphasizing the importance of staying in touch with our diverse set of traditions found throughout the campus community. The week was filled to the brim with school spirit and was seen in the events found throughout the week. We had over 200 students step into their call as servant leaders as they went out into the community to serve. ӰAV was excited to have been able to partner with the following non-profits:
Tenaciously Teal, SISU Youth Services, Palomar, Wesley UMC, Reaching Our City, OKC Beautiful, Neighborhood Services Organization, Camp Fire Heart OK, ReMerge and the YWCA.
Each and every one of these organizations give back to the OKC community in a meaningful way. We thank them for their commitment to bettering the lives of all who walk through their doors. Stay tuned for the Spring OKConnect project!

BLESSING BOX
The Office of Religious Life and ӰAVServes is always looking for donations for the campus to community blessing box! The box is located near the campus police station along 23rd street and is available for use by anyone who comes across it. As we get closer to the winter weather, we are especially looking for donations of gloves, hats, coats, and other warming materials.
We are always looking to fill the blessing box with non-perishable food items such as granola bars, nuts, raisins, canned goods (with a pop top lid), and pet food.
We would love for you to join the ӰAV community in this volunteer initiative! Donations can be placed in the blessing box itself or they can be brought to the lower level of the chapel.
Take a picture of you and your donations for the blessing box and we will share it on our social media!

STAR STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: CATHERINE RIVERA
My name is Catherine Rivera, I was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, the largest state in Mexico. I am 19 years old and I am a freshman at ӰAV, I would like to be a nurse and that is what I am studying.
My experience at ӰAV has been wonderful, I can't imagine being anywhere else, I have learned and grown a lot since the first day I arrived here. The people who are there to help do so genuinely and from the heart. In the classrooms, the class goes by quickly because the teachers and their way of teaching are one of the best things about this place, every day you learn something new no matter what. The social environment is very healthy, and you can see the growth of each person, you can feel that we are becoming adults.
Before I used to see it as an obligation to go to chapel at school once a week, so many years ago my family and I stopped going to receive the word of God, but when I got here and heard about Wesley center, I had the desire to want to attend. That part of the day when I am there, I feel like all the worries go away and there is only tranquility, the atmosphere is so warm and peaceful. My faith in God and my desire to learn from Him grow every time I attend Wesley Center.
